Directly after the meeting we will have an August Education workshop:

Copyright & Intellectual Property Workshop

Presented by Peggy Miller, Esq.

Protecting Creativity in Our Quilting Community

Join us following the August meeting for a practical conversation about copyright and intellectual property, what they protect, how they affect quilting and guild activities, and how we can respect the work of other creators while protecting our own.

We’ll Discuss

  • What copyright and intellectual property mean

  • The difference between Creative Commons, educational use, commercial use, and infringement

  • Why material found online is not automatically free to copy, share, or sell

  • Using images, patterns, and text created by someone else, including making products from downloaded designs

  • Properly purchasing and using quilt patterns: one purchased pattern does not authorize making copies for others

  • Copyright considerations for quilts, raffle projects, and reproducing text on quilts

  • Practical steps for documenting and protecting your own original designs

  • Questions about AI-generated content: ownership, use, and responsibility

Bring Your Questions

This workshop is designed to help guild members make informed, respectful choices about creative work. Bring your questions and real-world examples for discussion. Join us for a fussy cutting stripes demo
